breathe it

beloved god, beloved,

please infuse my body with your fire

all the cold places to wake up all

the wings to unfurl

all the tears to fuel the flight

never let it be said the mind cannot weep

or feel

beloved god beloved

breathe that into me which I seem

to lack

as this short day turns to darker hours

I have asked for love to pay attention

to notice

that which it obliterates unaware

the soft half breath before speech

the tiny body creeping

where no pathway has opened

the small ones who

you have said

are loved just as much

as any

oh beloved
